Basque industry to be discussed by entrepreneurs and journalists

As part of the Machine-Tool Biennial, which covers major sectors of industry and drivers of the Basque economy (manufacturers, importers, suppliers, customers, etc.), the Basque Association of Journalists (AVP-EKE) and the Basque Institute of Journalists (CVP-KEE) have worked with the Bilbao Exhibition Centre to arrange a round table for journalists and high-ranking staff from companies and financial institutions.

The panel was opened by Xabier Basañez, General Manager of the Bilbao Exhibition Centre (BEC) and by Jesús Coterón, Chair of the AVP-EKE and Dean of the CVP-KEE.

The topics discussed included “Is the macro-growth seen in the economy real?”, “Is it true that we have emerged from the crisis stronger?”, “Is funding still a handicap for firms?” and “Are we ready to meet for the new technological demands of industry and global markets?”

The participants included Marco Pineda, General Manager of Elkargi; Joseba Barandia of the Basque Institute of Economists and the person in charge of the Ekonómetro Report; Ana Belén Juaristi, Manager of Engranajes Juaristi, voted Gipuzkoa’s Top Entrepreneur of 2016; Martín Fernández Loizaga, Assistant Manager of Hegan, the Basque Aeronautics Cluster; Fernando Arocena, General Manager of Bost Machine Tools Company; and the journalists José Vicente Merino, Head of the Economic News Desk at El Correo; Xabier Aja of the Economic News Desk at DEIA; Roberto Urkitza, Head of Corporate Strategy and Carlos Etxeberri, Head of the Economic news Desk at Diario de Noticias de Gipuzkoa.
