BE IN, BIEMH: Industry 4.0 revolutionises the 30th edition of the fair

It will be held from 28 May to 1 June 2018

Machines that revolutionise production processes, and interconnected processes that multiply their performance, quality and added value: with an unprecedented technological offer, BIEMH-International Machine Tool Biennial will be positioned at the forefront of Industry 4.0 on 28 May to 1 June 2018 in what will be its 30th edition.

A total of 1,510 exhibiting firms from 21 countries have already responded to the invitation to the event, “Be IN, BIEMH”, where they will deploy their full force in INnovation, productive INtelligence, system INtegration and INternationalisation throughout Bilbao Exhibition Centre’s six halls. Three months before its celebration, a growth of 15% above the final occupation figure from its previous edition  anticipates a fair with more products, more machinery and a broad sample of advanced manufacturing solutions in live presentations.

The BIEMH commercial campaign has maintained significant increases above all parameters since its inception, a trend that has been consolidated in recent years, marked by the recovery of the activity in a favourable economic context. Indeed, the GDP recovered the levels prior to the crisis, positioned at +3.1% in 2017, and the Industrial Production Index in capital goods grew by 4.7%. The exercise was described as positive by the machine tool sector and advanced manufacturing, which closed with a 5.3% increase in production, thanks to a turnover of €1,576.6 million.

These are some of the data presented this morning at a press conference for the international media, general and specialised press, from different European countries. The following executives intervened: Javier Zarraonandia, Vice Minister of Industry of the Basque Government, Xabier Basañez, General Director of Bilbao Exhibition Enter, Xabier Ortueta, General Director of AFM-Advanced Manufacturing Technologies and Eduard Farrán, President of AIMHE-Machine Tool Importers Association of Spain. The agenda was completed with a visit to the Egile and Soraluce facilities and to the Advanced Aeronautical Manufacturing Centre, representing the manufacturing and user companies.

INNOVATION AS A DRIVER OF INDUSTRIAL ACTIVITY

Innovation as a driver of industry will be the grand protagonist of BIEMH, which this year is experiencing very increased growth sectors such as metal forming machinery, which after an exceptional 2016 in order processing is already 14% of the exhibition, or those of components and accessories, reaching 28%, in line with its evolution in the market. The remaining exhibition space is distributed, to date, between the large metal forming machinery (22%), tools (15%), metrology and CAD-CAM (10%), and automation and robotics (9%), in addition to machinery and equipment for surface treatment, other machines and services for companies.

All areas will be represented by leading companies, which already prepare their technology and leading services to bring them closer and more accessible to thousands of professionals from more than 50 countries, who will visit BIEMH in May, interested in obtaining the maximum use of the so-called “Fourth Industrial Revolution”. The exhibitors directory already offers very interesting novelties, among other categories regarding large machines such as the DANOBATGROUP, that will present its IRD-400 grinding machine for interiors, exteriors, faces and radius of its German subsidiary DANOBAT-OVERBECK and SORALUCE TA-M Centre, a multifunction solution oriented to maximise productivity, with the ability to perform milling, turning and grinding operations in a single bound; the TruLaser 5030 fibre from TRUMPF, a machine of great productivity equipped with the new “Highspeed Eco” nozzles that allow to double production speed and reduce up to 70% nitrogen consumption in the cutting process; or the Nicolas Correa FOX-40 machine that combines most of the technological breakthroughs developed by the company to date. Among its main specifications is a full fairing with roof, UAD milling heads, and double crown Hirth technology (0.02º) patented by Nicolas Correa, as well as E5E head with two high-speed continuous axes.

INTERNATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES AND INVESTMENT RECOVERY

Immersed in a positive expansion cycle of industrial activity, the Spanish economy offers new expectations to foreign companies and they are already 47% of the total exhibiting firms. The need to invest in new machinery, tools and equipment has reinforced the international presence at the event, which this year gets the best record in recent times, with brands from 20 countries such as Flow Europe, Datson, Adige, BLM, Salvagnini, Mecanumeric, Matsura, Muratec, Coherent-Rofin, Marechal Electric, Amob, Adira…

Portugal will have the highest representation in the sample, followed closely by Germany, Italy and France, in a list that also includes companies such as Japan, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, China, Denmark, Slovakia, United States, The Netherlands, Israel, Poland, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Taiwan and Turkey.

In recognition of the participation of foreign exhibitors and visitors and the positive progression of both parameters, among other aspects, BIEMH has received the “Fully International Award” from the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness. Each year, this entity distinguishes certain fairs by their external projection and offers support for their promotion and approval for grants to exhibiting companies. Beyond this qualification, BIEMH possesses the category of international fair granted by UFI, Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, in which Xavier Basañez is on Board of Directors.

THE CLAIM, CONVOCATION TO PROFESSIONAL VISITORS

The current development of industry raises new modes of production and new ways to articulate value propositions to the market. Therefore, “Be IN, BIEMH” is also convocation for visitors to learn, at first hand, the business models of this new scenario, and get the most out of their major challenges.

In response to the opportunity to view, in a single space, the most important developments and trends on a global scale, the list of registered professionals includes companies from the full spectrum of user sectors – automotive, aeronautical, rail, steel, metallurgical, energy, equipment as well as chemical, pharmaceutical and food industry, among others -. To name a few, the following representatives have requested accreditation: Airbus, Bombardier Transportation Spain, CAF-Construcciones and Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles, CIE Automotive Group, Ferrovial, Ford, Adams Food Group, Aciturri Group, Aernnova Group, Faes Farma Group, ITP Group, have requested accreditation. Volkswagen-Seat, Henkel Ibérica, M. Torres Industrial Designs, Mercedes Benz, Nestlé Spain, Repsol, Sidenor, Siemens Gamesa and Tecnicas Reunidas.

Internationally, it highlights the buyer delegation programme, which is developing intensively in countries considered by exhibitors as priorities for export, i.e. Germany, Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Ecuador, Slovakia, USA, Russia, France, India, Iran, Israel, Italy, Morocco, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Singapore, South Africa, Thailand and Turkey. The Visitors’ Team for the Event has already travelled to some of these countries and is preparing its agenda for visits to Germany, France and Portugal in the near future. Additionally, the programme has the collaboration of distributors, importers and sectorial associations, own agents, SPRI offices abroad and chambers of commerce.

NEW SECTORS AND APPROACHES

BIEMH expands its status as a leading platform in advanced manufacturing with new spaces. Thus, this year BeDIGITAL is incorporated, an event aimed at the digital technology industrial application. With the aim of facilitating a practical demonstration of products and services, business opportunities and knowledge transfer, BeDIGITAL will offer differentiated areas for commercial contact and conferences. For Digital Talks it is already working on the following thematic blocks: digital transformation, connectivity, Big Data analysis, cybersecurity, enabling technologies and blockchain, case studies of digitalisation processes in the industry and human resources and training in digitalisation processes. More than 20 companies – consultants, ICT, software, computers and equipment firms – have already confirmed their participation.

In parallel, the 3rd edition of ADDIT3D will take place. The International Trade Show on Additive and 3D Manufacturing offers this year very interesting novelties in machines for additive manufacturing and metal printing, such as the new 3D printers in Metal Studio System by Pixel Sistemas for an office environment, and the final part manufacturing, new developments in specific materials and cutting-edge 3D scanners.
