“What role will the robot play in the factory of the future?”. With this relevant question, the Automation&Robotics Talks have started, whose opening keynote has been given by a reference in this field as Gregorio Ameyugo, Head of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Division of CEA, one of the world’s leading research and development centers. During his speech, Ameyugo made a detailed review of the trends that will set the pace in the coming years, from semiconductors to the cloud, through computing centers or large Artificial Intelligence models. Models and meeting points, he pointed out, from which robots should benefit and for which “we must urgently prepare ourselves”, because in a technological wave like the current one, dominated by Artificial Intelligence and where changes are happening at an extraordinary speed, “predictions are difficult to contextualize and investments, the result of an uncertain outlook, are slowed down instead of encouraged”.

That robotics and Artificial Intelligence are called to understand each other and collaborate has been one of the certainties heard in the various presentations that have shaped the Automatic&Robotics Talks. Advances in this regard have been more than evident in recent years, and the improved autonomy in decision making has had an impact on the day-to-day life of companies and organizations, providing them with greater flexibility and adaptability. Mobile robotics will play a key role in this future scenario, which is already well established in the industrial sector (logistics, automotive, etc.) and is in great demand due to the multiple advantages and solutions it offers.

As future challenges, all those present agreed on the need to implement projects linked to robotics where cadence, precision, efficiency and improved occupational safety are a reality.
